A 12th-century Benedictine monastery in northern Portugal, restored and barely changed, the doors thrown open, another place laid at the table.
Prologue

Through the centuries
A 12th-century Benedictine monastery, kept as it was found, the church and the cloister still standing in their own time.

The cloister
At its heart, a stone cloister and a fountain that has not stopped running, the centre of a life turned inward and slow.

Within the walls
Light moves across worn stone and old glass, the rooms changed very little, mending only what time has asked of us.

An invitation
Not a hotel so much as a house with a long memory, the doors thrown open, another place laid at the table.
The Suites
Carefully restored, each with touches of luxury and quiet modern comfort, and a long memory.
Eat & Drink
Almost everything begins in the walled garden, picked that morning, cooked simply, in the Benedictine way. A summer café by the river; a winter bistro by the fire.

Open-air and all-day by the river on the Caminho de Santiago, coffee, light plates and long, slow afternoons. Its menu lives online, and changes with the garden.

A seasonal bistro of sharing plates in the historic stone room, fireplace, candlelight and farm-to-table cooking, served where the monastery once dined.
Experiences
Cookery in the garden, sound baths in the church, river mornings and long walks to the Atlantic, days shaped by the place, not a programme.
